Land Alliance Folk School, Oxford, Iowa
Ever felt unsure about how to start washing a raw fleece? You’re not alone! Join us for the Woolly Wash-Along Day at Land Folk Alliance, a day designed to make wool washing approachable, practical, and fun.
This day includes two separate opportunities to participate:
Getting Started with Woolly Washing
The day begins with a Step-by-Step Wool Washing Workshop for registered participants. This guided, hands-on experience will walk you through the process of washing raw fleece from start to finish, helping you build confidence working with wool in a supportive environment. Registration is required, click below for details.
Woolly Wash-Along Gathering
In the afternoon, the event opens to everyone free of charge. This relaxed gathering will give you a chance to:
-
Explore skills like skirting a fleece, checking staple strength, and determining when fleece is fully clean
-
Learn the basics of the scouring process
-
Ask questions about washing fleece
-
Connect with fellow wool and fiber enthusiasts
Use the following link to share what topics you'd like to learn about at this gathering. You can also RSVP to let us know you'd like to join.
Our goal is to make scouring feel less intimidating and more enjoyable. Whether you’re brand new to raw fleece or looking to deepen your skills, we want you to leave feeling confident handling wool from fleece to fiber.
If you aren't able to attend in-person, sign up for the Woolly Wash-Along to join in the sudsy fun together!
